a focused program for new and seasoned managers to help increase
effectiveness, confidence, and performance
The effectiveness of your front-line managers is key to your organization's success. The Leadership Foundations program is specifically designed to help managers overcome the biggest roadblocks to being an effective leader whether they are new to management or have years of managing under their belt. These 2-hour virtual courses are engaging, practical and impactful.
Session 1 – Coaching Skills for People with Crushing Workloads: This 2-hour interactive workshop will focus on helping supervisors learn to coach vs. supervise or counsel. Content will center around teaching participants to recognize coaching moments (moments where coaching is appropriate and will be the most successful), create space for those they coach so they can solve problems themselves, and orient the people they coach toward action.
Session 2 – How to Have that Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding: During this 2-hour session we will explore individual, structural and organizational challenges of having difficult and challenging conversations. We will explore methods to “unstick” stuck relationships and have the necessary conversations we tend to avoid. This session will use facilitated discussion, small group breakouts, and individual work to keep it practical, realistic and powerfully effective.
Session 3 – Solve Performance Issues Once (and Forever): The eternal question that haunts managers is, Why won't my people do what they are expected to do? In this course, managers will learn the answer to that question, how to set and communicate expectations, how to identify performance gaps, and how to use one-on-ones effectively. We will also explore the most common barriers to good performance and how to overcome them.
Session 4 – Developing Those Around You: Good managers don't just managing performance they also develop people. This session teaches managers how to identify growth opportunities, set stretch goals for others, identify gaps, assess potential, and develop growth mindset in those they manage
Session 5 is reserved to address real-time challenges your supervisors are facing. During sessions 1 - 4, I will gather feedback and input as to the real-life struggles that smack your supervisors in the face every day. I will work with you directly to create the appropriate and most helpful content for the session. Potential topics include:
o Time and energy management
o Dealing with change
o Giving feedback
o Managing challenging workloads
o Dealing with difficult people
